Making It Easy To Design For Responsiveness

DroidUX 1.3 Is Now Available

We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of the latest release of DroidUX UI component library version 1.3.

In this release we're focusing on adding componets that help developers to design for responsiveness.  One of the most used UI controls/widgets to increase the perceived responsiveness of applications are the progress widgets.  This type of UI controls keep the users informed while the app is working hard on the background, thereby increasing the users' patience in waiting for the results, which have the effects of improving the app perceived responsiveness.  In addition to that, research has shown  that some visual tricks/illusions can further increase the perceived speed/responsiveness of the application without changing/increasing the actual performance/respond time of the app.

Therefore we've added new category of widgets in the library: the Progress widgets.

We've also include a new addition to the Actions widgets, i.e. QuickPopover widget, that make it easy to show an arbitrary view within a callout container, similar to the other quick-action type of widgets.

In addition to that we've also updated the AppBars widgets for easier implementation of the ActionBar compatibility solution following the ActionBarCompat reference sample explained in the Android Developer website.
